COVID-19: Update 2

Dear Members & Supporters

Further to the update posted on the
USC Lion Facebook Page and on USC Lion’s Team App, the Club would like to
update you again at this unprecedented time on the situation that is continuing
to unfold with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The USC Lion Committee had a meeting
tonight online to ensure that we have covered everything possible to protect
the health and safety of our members. VSA are working tirelessly in this very
challenging situation to assess various options and scenarios for the winter
2020 season.

We will receive updates from VSA over
the coming weeks and in turn we will share these updates with the USC Lion
volleyball community.

We would like to take this opportunity
to thank all the junior families who managed to get out to our 4 weeks of
trials. Over these weeks we were able to select all boys’ junior teams, with
thanks to Junior Boys Coordinators Simon and Fabien.

Unfortunately we were unable to
complete the girls trials, however the selectors have had a good look at all
the girls who trialled and feel confident in their selections for all girls
teams. Again thank you to Junior Girls Coordinators Sharon and Jacinta for your
time in coordinating the girls. With the fact that all girl’s teams did not
complete their trial period, preliminary teams will be announced. This may see
a need to make minor changes between some teams, to ensure that our junior
athletes are placed in teams that cater to team balance and align with age and
competency.

There will not be any further trials
and we have been advised by VSA that there will not be any grading tournament
either at this stage. We are completely unsure of what the season will look
like for the coming winter and we will await notification from VSA.

All teams will be announced via Team
App and email in the next week.

VSA.

Again we thank the USC Lion and wider
volleyball community for their patience during this difficult time and we trust
in the processes and policies that VSA are working through. We will stand
united together in this fight against COVID-19 and look forward to enjoying our
sport again in the not too distant future.

Thankyou

Sarah Kelly
